Delta YOWA contact export: save chat numbers as a CSV file

Delta YOWA’s contact export feature can turn the phone numbers found in a WhatsApp conversation into a CSV file. That is useful when a community organiser, small business owner or family group administrator needs a searchable list rather than manually copying every number into the phone book.

For Australian Android users, this can be handy for a Melbourne sports club, a Sydney school-parent group, a Queensland holiday rental team or a bushwalking group coordinating trips outside mobile coverage. The exact menu names can vary between Delta YOWA releases, so treat the following process as a practical guide rather than a fixed screenshot-by-screenshot instruction.

What the export feature does

A contact export tool scans the selected chat for numbers and places the results into a comma-separated values file. Depending on the build, the file may include a display name, international number, message author or date information. Some versions export only numbers, while others remove duplicates automatically.

The result can be opened in Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel or a plain-text editor. This makes it easier to filter Australian numbers beginning with +61, separate work contacts from personal contacts, or prepare a list for a club newsletter. Users comparing different modified WhatsApp packages can also review GBWhatsApp features to see how another mod family handles privacy and contact tools.

Delta YOWA does not necessarily provide the same interface in every release. A feature may be moved, renamed or removed after an update, particularly when the APK is rebuilt around a newer WhatsApp base. If “Export contacts” is missing, check the release notes and avoid installing several unknown APKs over the same app.

Preparing the chat and permissions

Before exporting, open the conversation that contains the numbers. A group chat is usually the most useful source, although the tool may work with individual conversations as well. Scroll through recent messages first if the numbers were posted as plain text rather than saved as contact cards, because extraction quality can differ.

Give Delta YOWA access only to the Android storage location it needs. On newer Android versions, files may be saved through the system document picker instead of a broad storage permission. Choose a clearly named folder such as Documents/DeltaYowaExports, and avoid granting access to unrelated photos, banking files or work documents.

Australian phone formats can create duplicates. A number written as 04 1234 5678 may appear separately from +61 4 1234 5678, even though both point to the same mobile. Treat local formatting as a cleaning issue rather than assuming every row represents a different person.

Exporting numbers to a CSV file

Open the relevant chat, tap the three-dot menu or the chat information panel, and look for a tool labelled Contact export, Export numbers, Chat tools or a similar option. Select all available entries if the screen offers a range or selection control, then choose CSV as the output format.

Confirm the destination and wait for the export to finish. Large groups can take longer, especially when the conversation contains years of messages. Once complete, open the Android Files app and look in Downloads, Documents or the folder shown in the confirmation message. The file may have a name based on the chat title and export date.

Open a copy of the file in Sheets or Excel rather than editing the original immediately. Check whether the first row contains headings, whether leading plus signs have been preserved and whether names include emojis or unusual symbols. If the export fails, try a shorter date range, restart Delta YOWA and repeat the process after creating a local backup.

Cleaning and using the CSV

Keep phone numbers in a text-formatted column. Spreadsheet software can otherwise strip the plus sign, remove leading zeroes or convert long values into scientific notation. For Australian records, standardising mobile numbers to +61 4xx xxx xxx makes matching and deduplication easier, but do not alter numbers from overseas participants without checking their country code.

Remove blank rows, message fragments and numbers that are clearly not personal contacts. A group may contain links, order references or copied business lines that resemble phone numbers. Compare repeated entries by number, not just by name, because “Mum”, “Mum Work” and a full name may refer to the same person.

A clean CSV can support a club membership register, event attendance list or customer follow-up process, but it should not automatically become a bulk marketing database. Australian organisations need to consider consent and the Australian Privacy Principles, especially when collecting contact details for commercial communication.

Privacy, security and APK risks

Modified WhatsApp apps operate outside the official Google Play distribution channel, so the APK source matters. A fake Delta YOWA package can contain spyware, aggressive advertising or code designed to copy exported files. Scan downloads, check the file’s reputation and avoid builds that demand accessibility access, SMS control or unrelated device permissions.

Store the CSV securely because it may contain private phone numbers belonging to people who never agreed to be listed publicly. Do not leave it in a shared Downloads folder on a family tablet, upload it to an open link or send it to a large group. When the task is finished, delete temporary copies and empty the device’s trash or recycle area.

If you need help checking a release, installation detail or version-specific behaviour, use the site’s contact page rather than downloading a second APK from an unverified mirror. Keeping one tested build and one controlled export location is safer than repeatedly switching between mod variants.

A practical CSV export checklist

  • Back up important Delta YOWA chats before changing settings or updating the APK.
  • Confirm that the selected conversation actually contains the numbers you need.
  • Save the export in a private folder with a date and chat label.
  • Open the CSV in a spreadsheet using text formatting for phone-number columns.
  • Standardise +61 and local Australian number formats before removing duplicates.
  • Delete unwanted rows, temporary copies and unused exports after the task.
  • Obtain appropriate consent before using the list for promotions or group messages.

Use Delta YOWA’s export tool for a defined purpose, inspect every row before sharing the file and keep the final CSV protected. A careful workflow can save hours of manual copying while reducing the risk of exposing the contact details of friends, clients, club members or colleagues.
