Exporting a Chat as a PDF with Media Attachments in TMWhatsApp

TMWhatsApp is popular with Android users who want extra themes, privacy controls and messaging options beyond the standard WhatsApp app. Its menus can vary between releases, however, so chat export tools may appear under slightly different names or behave differently after an update.

Exporting a conversation as a PDF with photos, videos and documents requires more than tapping “Export chat”. The built-in function usually creates a text file, while attached media is placed in a separate folder or ZIP archive. A few extra Android steps are needed to create a readable PDF and keep those files together.

This workflow is useful for saving family conversations, documenting a marketplace transaction or keeping a record of work-related messages. For Australians commuting on Sydney trains, using Melbourne trams or managing files between a phone and a home computer in Brisbane or Perth, a compact PDF can be easier to search and store than a long chat thread.

Understand What TMWhatsApp Can Export

TMWhatsApp generally inherits WhatsApp’s chat export structure. Open the required conversation, select the three-dot menu, choose “More”, and look for “Export chat”. The available options are normally “Without media” and “Include media”, although wording can change in modified APK builds.

A text-only export is usually the cleanest starting point for a PDF because it contains dates, sender names and message content in sequence. Including media produces a larger export and may limit the number of messages. WhatsApp-style exporters commonly allow up to about 40,000 messages without media and around 10,000 with media, but TMWhatsApp versions may impose different limits.

The media option does not usually insert every photo or video into the text document. Instead, it creates a TXT file alongside image, audio, video and document files, often compressed into a ZIP archive. Treat that archive as the source material for the final PDF rather than expecting a single finished document.

Prepare The Conversation And Files

Before exporting, remove unnecessary clutter from the chat if the record is intended for business, legal or personal archiving. Decide whether stickers, voice notes, GIFs and forwarded messages are relevant. A short, focused export is easier to read and less likely to exceed Android’s sharing or storage limits.

Check the phone’s free space, particularly if the conversation contains high-resolution photos or videos. Someone using mobile data with Telstra, Optus or Vodafone may prefer to export over Wi-Fi, while people in regional areas should allow extra time for a large ZIP file to be created and copied.

Review TMWhatsApp’s privacy controls before starting; the site’s privacy settings guide can help identify features that alter read receipts, online status or media behaviour. These settings do not replace a backup, so copy the original chat export to a separate location before converting anything.

Convert The Export Into A PDF

After choosing “Include media”, save the export to the Android Files app, Google Drive or a computer. If TMWhatsApp opens the Android share sheet, select a mail, cloud or file-management destination that can handle large attachments. Avoid editing the original ZIP until you have made a duplicate.

Open the TXT file in a compatible Android document app or on a desktop computer. Select Print, then choose “Save as PDF” as the printer. On many Android phones this option is available through the system print service. Set a sensible paper size, such as A4, and use portrait orientation unless long sender names or timestamps require landscape formatting.

A PDF made this way contains the conversation text, but the media remains separate. To provide a more complete record, add a media index after the messages or create additional pages with selected photographs. A word processor or PDF editor can combine the text, captions and chosen images, while videos and audio should remain as linked or separately labelled files because embedding them directly is impractical.

Keep Media Matched To Messages

Use consistent filenames when organising attachments. The exported files may have generated names, so create a folder with the chat name and export date, then place the PDF, original TXT file, ZIP archive and media subfolders inside it. Do not rename files randomly if you need to trace an image back to its message.

The following approaches suit different purposes:

Export method Main output Media handling Suitable use
Without media Small TXT file converted to PDF No attachments Quick reading and long-term text storage
Include media TXT file plus ZIP or media folder Original files kept separately Complete personal archive
Manual PDF assembly Designed PDF Selected images embedded, other files separate Reports, evidence packs and presentations
Cloud conversion PDF created by an online or desktop service Depends on the service Occasional use when phone tools are limited

For a family archive, embedding a small selection of photographs may make the PDF easier to understand. For a rental dispute, sale record or workplace matter, preserve the untouched export as well and use the PDF as a viewing copy. This keeps timestamps and original filenames available if the document later needs checking.

Protect And Share The Finished Archive

A chat export can contain phone numbers, addresses, payment details, photographs and location information. The Australian Privacy Act 1988 and Australian Privacy Principles are especially relevant when an organisation collects, stores or shares personal information, although personal household use may be treated differently. Obtain permission before distributing someone else’s private messages.

Avoid uploading sensitive conversations to unknown online PDF converters. Keep files in an encrypted folder or password-protected archive, and use a reputable cloud account with two-step verification. When sending a record through email or a messaging service, check whether the service compresses images or removes metadata.

For a reliable TMWhatsApp export, follow these practices:

  • Export over trusted Wi-Fi and confirm the complete ZIP has finished downloading.
  • Keep the original TXT file and media archive alongside the converted PDF.
  • Use the chat name, date range and export date in the folder and PDF filename.
  • Check several timestamps, images and documents before deleting the source files.
  • Remove unrelated personal information before sharing the record with another person.
  • Store a second copy on a computer or external drive rather than relying on one phone.

Modified APKs can change menus, storage paths and export behaviour between releases. Review the current TMWhatsApp version notes before beginning, and test the process with a small conversation first. Related communities, including discussions of FMWhatsApp group features, can also show how mod families handle similar message and media functions.

Once the PDF opens correctly and every important attachment is accounted for, label the archive clearly and share only the files that the recipient actually needs. Checking the export on both the Android phone and a computer gives you a dependable record without sacrificing the original conversation data.
