Browse allHow to Set a Custom Call Ringtone in TMWhatsApp
Changing the default ringtone for voice calls in TMWhatsApp is a useful way to make incoming calls easier to recognise. A distinctive sound can separate WhatsApp calls from standard mobile calls, work notifications, and other alerts competing for attention throughout the day.
The exact menu names can vary between TMWhatsApp builds, Android versions, and device brands. This guide explains the usual route, alternative Android settings, and practical checks for users in Australia who want a reliable custom call sound without affecting message notifications.
Prepare the Ringtone File
Start with a short audio file stored locally on your Android phone. MP3 is usually the safest choice, although many devices also accept M4A, OGG, or WAV files. A clip between 10 and 30 seconds is generally long enough to identify a call without becoming distracting.
Save the file in a simple folder such as Music, Ringtones, or Downloads. If TMWhatsApp does not display the sound during selection, move it into the phone’s Ringtones folder and restart the app. Avoid files with unusual symbols in their names, as some modified APKs may have trouble reading them.
Australian users often keep phones on silent or vibration while travelling on Sydney trains, Melbourne trams, or Brisbane buses. A clear but moderate ringtone is more practical than a very loud sound, particularly when calls may arrive during work or in crowded public spaces.
Find the Call Notification Setting
Open TMWhatsApp and tap the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner. Choose Settings, then open Notifications. Look for a section labelled Calls, Call Notifications, or Ringtone. Depending on the build, the ringtone control may appear under a broader Notifications menu rather than in a dedicated calls category.
Tap Ringtone and select the audio file from the Android sound picker. Confirm the choice with Save, Done, or the back button, depending on your device. Place a test call from another number to check that the selected sound plays correctly when the phone is locked and unlocked.
Because TMWhatsApp is an unofficial WhatsApp variant, its settings can differ after an update. The mod release archive can help you identify the build you are using and compare feature notes before assuming a missing menu is a fault.
Use Android’s App Notification Controls
If the ringtone option is missing inside TMWhatsApp, open the Android Settings app and select Apps, TMWhatsApp, Notifications. Some phones show separate channels such as Calls, Messages, Group Messages, and Other Notifications. Select Calls, then choose Sound and pick the preferred audio file.
Brand-specific interfaces may use different labels. Samsung devices commonly place the control inside notification categories, while Xiaomi, Oppo, and Google Pixel phones may display it under notification permissions or sound settings. Make sure notifications are enabled for incoming calls before changing the audio.
If Android does not show a Calls category, return to TMWhatsApp and make one test call first. The system may create the channel only after the app has generated a call notification. Updating the app can also recreate notification categories, so check the ringtone again after installing a newer APK.
Keep Calls Distinct From Other Alerts
TMWhatsApp may allow message and call notifications to be adjusted separately. Keep the call ringtone different from the sound used for private chats, groups, and media messages. This is especially helpful for people who use one phone for family, work, banking alerts, and messaging.
Some releases include extra controls for vibration pattern, ringtone duration, and call pop-ups. These features may sit under Privacy, Home Screen, or Universal settings rather than Notifications. Change one option at a time so it is easy to identify which setting affects the incoming call experience.
If you use Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, or another Australian provider, the mobile network does not normally control the TMWhatsApp ringtone. The sound is managed by the app and Android, although data coverage can determine whether a WhatsApp call arrives promptly.
Troubleshoot Ringtone Changes
When the old ringtone continues playing, force-close TMWhatsApp and reopen it. Check that the file still exists, that the phone’s media volume is raised, and that Do Not Disturb or a custom Focus mode is not suppressing call sounds. A Bluetooth headset or smartwatch may also redirect the alert.
If a ringtone disappears after an update, choose it again through the current notification menu. Clearing the app cache may help, but clearing storage can remove local app data, so create a chat backup before using that option. An Android troubleshooting guide can also be useful when the issue involves system permissions or notification channels rather than TMWhatsApp itself.
Remember that modified WhatsApp APKs are distributed outside the standard Google Play process. Download only from a source you trust, scan files before installation, review requested permissions, and keep a backup of important chats. Australian privacy obligations, including the Privacy Act framework, do not make an unofficial APK automatically secure, so personal and business conversations deserve extra care.
Settings Worth Checking Before You Save
- Use an MP3 or another widely supported format with a short, clear clip.
- Confirm that the file is stored locally rather than only in cloud storage.
- Check TMWhatsApp’s call notification channel in Android Settings.
- Test the ringtone with the screen locked, unlocked, and connected to Bluetooth.
- Keep a backup before changing app storage, reinstalling, or switching builds.
- Choose a sound that is audible in busy places without being uncomfortable indoors.
Open TMWhatsApp now, select a recognisable audio file, and place a test call to verify the result. Recheck the setting after every major APK update, particularly if the app’s notification menus or privacy controls have changed.
