Change the app icon name and colour in Delta YOWA

A custom launcher label and tint can make Delta YOWA easier to recognise without touching your chats or profile. The “name” is the text beneath the shortcut, while the colour may be controlled by the mod itself or by the icon theme on your phone. The quickest route depends on the build you installed.

Menu names vary between releases, and some older APKs hide the controls. Work from a trusted Delta YOWA release listing, keep a backup of your chats, and avoid installing several similarly named copies at once. That preparation prevents mismatched versions, duplicate notifications and difficult update conflicts.

Understand what you are changing

First, separate the app label from the icon artwork. The label is the small name beneath the launcher icon; the colour is the tint applied to that icon. Changing either does not rename your chats, contacts or WhatsApp profile.

Builds can differ materially. WhatsAppMods.org's YOWA variant notes explain why similar YOWA packages may expose different menus. Treat an unofficial APK as untrusted software: avoid banking, work accounts and two-factor codes, and use a test account until its source and behaviour are clear.

Check your Delta YOWA build first

Open Delta YOWA, tap the three-dot menu or profile control, and choose Settings. Look for Customisation, Appearance or Themes, then an App icon, Icon name or App label option. Australian English commonly uses “customisation”, although some app menus retain the US spelling “customization”.

In Australia, most people reach apps through Google Play or the Apple App Store, and an iPhone cannot install an Android APK. Android users on Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones may need launcher-specific steps later. On Telstra or Optus mobile plans, install over Wi-Fi where possible, then enable the APK install permission only for the browser or file manager you trust.

Set the name and colour in the app

In the app-icon panel, first enter a short label such as Delta YOWA or simply Delta. Avoid version numbers and excessive capitals; the name should be recognisable at a glance on a crowded Melbourne or Sydney home screen. For naming inspiration, the distinctive title used by Laguna de Contreras illustrates why one clear phrase is easier to recall than a string of numbers. Tap Save or Apply afterwards.

For colour, choose a named tint, palette entry or colour wheel if the build provides one. If Delta YOWA offers only an icon picker, select a monochrome or adaptive icon, then assign the desired colour through your launcher. A fixed launcher icon will not recolour merely because the app's settings page shows a preview.

Close and reopen Delta YOWA, then check both the app drawer and home screen. Restart the launcher if the old name remains. On some Android versions, removing and recreating a home-screen shortcut is enough; on others, a reboot is needed before the new resource appears.

When the setting is missing

If there is no app-icon panel, first check whether you installed an older Delta YOWA build or a similarly named package. Update only from a trusted release listing, then restart. You can still rename a launcher shortcut, but the original app label and any adaptive-icon tint may remain outside your control.

For a persistent change, an APK editor can expose the package label and adaptive-icon resources. Make a separate copy, change the app-name string, then edit the adaptive-icon XML and replace its background colour or foreground drawable; rebuild, align and sign the APK before installation. This is fragile: a modified package must match the original signing certificate to update in place, and your rebuild may require uninstalling the existing app, so back up local chats first. A later mod update can also overwrite either edit.

Use launchers and shortcuts as fallbacks

Android launchers can tint adaptive icons without editing the APK. On many Samsung Galaxy phones, long-press the home screen and look for Wallpaper and style, Coloured icons or a themed-icon option. Pixel users can find Themed icons under Wallpaper and style. Third-party launchers often provide similar controls in Icon style or Icon pack settings.

Another approach is to long-press Delta YOWA and choose Add to Home screen, then edit the shortcut label if your launcher permits it. This changes the visible name, but the icon graphic may still come from the installed app. It is a useful fallback for users who do not want to rebuild an APK.

Personalisation can extend beyond the screen: users who enjoy a retro chat theme can pair it with music from one-hit wonder downloads. Keep the icon and playlist separate from sensitive work conversations, and check what each helper app can access.

A practical checklist for the finished icon

A smooth result depends on preparation, version checks and realistic expectations:

  • Download the APK from a release page that records its version and source.
  • Confirm the package name and developer details match the intended build.
  • Test the modified app with a secondary account and small chat history.
  • Choose a label of two or three words that is easy to recognise.
  • Use a launcher that supports adaptive or monochrome icons for tinting.
  • Back up chats and retain the original APK before rebuilding or reinstalling.
  • Keep an official WhatsApp installation available as a secure fallback.

Colour names vary between launchers, so verify the result on the home screen rather than trusting the in-app preview. Australians using accessibility settings or high-contrast themes may need to choose a different tint, and some OEM skins refresh labels only after the launcher cache is cleared.

Apply the change and keep it working

Apply the change now by opening the verified build's customisation panel, entering your chosen label and saving the colour. Before replacing anything, compare the release notes for your exact version; the site's guide to the TMWhatsApp S group provides useful related update context.

After installation, test a message, a voice note and a notification, then lock and unlock the phone to confirm the icon and label behave correctly. Keep official WhatsApp untouched, revoke unnecessary permissions, and open Delta YOWA now to use the new shortcut only for conversations that do not expose sensitive information.
