Browse allHow to Export GBWhatsApp Call Logs as CSV
Call history helps you check important conversations, reconcile a busy week, or keep evidence of calls. Exporting GBWhatsApp records to CSV places them in a spreadsheet that Excel, Google Sheets, or LibreOffice can open.
GBWhatsApp is an unofficial client, so menus and storage layouts can differ from the standard app. Some releases provide an export command; others keep call records inside the app’s private database. The reliable method depends on the installed build, Android version, and whether the device is rooted.
Try the built-in exporter first. If it is missing, a local copy of the database can be opened on a computer and converted without uploading call data to an unknown service. Manual transcription works for a small number of records.
Back up the app and avoid random “call log export” packages. Modified APKs can carry malware, and call histories contain phone numbers, names, timing, and relationships that deserve careful handling.
What GBWhatsApp Call Records Contain
A useful export normally contains the contact name, number, direction, date, time, and duration. Depending on the build, it may also include the account or device that made the call.
Build-specific notes matter because interface labels and saved fields change. Check the release information for your exact variant, such as GBWhatsApp S Pop details, rather than following a menu guide written for another modified client.
Chat exports are not call-log exports. A ZIP containing chat media may be named “export,” but it will not become a CSV of calls. Likewise, an encrypted WhatsApp backup is unsuitable for spreadsheet analysis.
Preparing Your Android Phone Safely
Start by recording the GBWhatsApp version and Android release, then make a normal backup of the app through its own backup controls. Free up storage for a copied database and keep the phone charged so extraction is not interrupted.
Download updates only from a current release page. The WhatsAppMods resource hub is a useful starting point for checking version notes and avoiding stale builds that may fail during extraction.
Check privacy settings before copying anything. Under Australia’s Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, a business may need to keep exported records secure, limit access, and delete them when no longer needed. Personal exports still deserve the same care.
Checking for a Built-In Exporter
Open GBWhatsApp and visit the three-dot menu, then Settings. Look under Tools, More Features, or a similar area for Export Call Logs, Export Call History, or an equivalent label. Exact wording depends on the release.
If the exporter appears, select the calls or date range, choose CSV, and save it to Downloads or Documents. Confirm that it lists calls rather than messages. If a custom theme hides the option, 9wp themes may help you restore a standard menu without changing builds.
On Australian Android phones from Telstra, Optus, or Vodafone, the Phone or Contacts app may show a separate history, but it can omit calls made only inside GBWhatsApp. Use it only when every number and date matches.
Extracting Logs With Root Access
If no exporter exists, root access may allow a read-only copy of private app files. This is technical: proceed only on a device you already manage confidently, and do not root a phone solely for a short call list.
Close GBWhatsApp, use a root file manager, and locate the package under /data/data/. Its databases folder may contain msgstore.db, a call-history file, or version-specific files. Copy the relevant database; never edit the live one.
Open the copy in a desktop SQLite editor such as DB Browser for SQLite. Inspect the schema for a call-history table or call entries within the message database. Select the needed columns, export the result as CSV with headers, and preserve the source database.
If the schema exposes no calls, do not guess. A newer release may use another package or table, while a backup utility may produce only an encrypted archive. Check documentation such as NewsMDN coverage before making further changes.
A Practical Export Checklist
Use a short checklist before and after the transfer so the export remains useful, auditable, and easy to share with the right people.
Before you export
- Confirm the GBWhatsApp build, Android version, and package name.
- Back up the app and preserve the untouched source database.
- Test the exporter with a small date range.
- Decide how Australian timestamps should be displayed.
After you export
- Open the CSV and confirm its headers, row count, and times.
- Keep the original in encrypted, access-controlled storage.
- Standardise +61 mobile numbers without losing the original.
- Record the export date and time zone.
Review names carefully because a caller can change their display name. Australian numbers may appear as 0412 345 678 or +61 412 345 678. For records spanning Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth, convert timestamps carefully: eastern states use AEST or AEDT, while Western Australia remains on AWST.
Comparing Export Methods and Privacy Risks
The route you choose depends on how much history you need and how much technical work you accept. A built-in command is fastest, the phone’s native history is convenient but incomplete, and a local database copy offers the most control.
| Method | Best for | Key limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Built-in GBWhatsApp export | Quick exports from supported builds | Not present in every release |
| System Phone or Contacts history | A small set of mirrored calls | May omit app-only calls |
| Root access and local SQLite | Larger histories and custom fields | Technical and version-sensitive |
| Manual spreadsheet | A handful of urgent records | Slow and prone to typing errors |
For organisations, use a managed device and approved local tooling where possible. Avoid websites that ask you to upload a database “for conversion,” and confirm whether your records should be retained, shared, or deleted under your internal policy.
Archive and Act on Your Records
Export a small test batch now, open it in your preferred spreadsheet, and check the columns before processing the full history. If no built-in exporter appears, work from a copied database on a computer rather than altering the live one.
Once the file passes that check, export the complete period, preserve the original backup and CSV together, and share the spreadsheet only with authorised recipients. For an Australian business, apply the relevant privacy and retention rules before distributing call data.
