Browse allHow to Make TMWhatsApp Play a Sound When a Specific Contact Comes Online
TMWhatsApp includes extra notification controls that may alert you when a chosen contact becomes active on WhatsApp. The exact wording differs between releases, but the setting is usually found inside privacy, notification, or contact-specific options rather than in standard WhatsApp.
This guide explains how to enable an online alert, assign a sound, and keep the feature reliable on Android. It is especially useful in Australia, where users may switch between home Wi-Fi, mobile data on trains, and busy workday notification settings in cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth.
Check Whether Your Build Supports Online Alerts
Open TMWhatsApp and tap the three-dot menu. Look for entries such as Mods Settings, Privacy, Online Notifications, Contact Online Toast, or Who Can Notify Me. The name can change between GB-style releases, so use the in-app search if your version provides one.
Some builds offer a general alert for every contact who comes online, while others allow a contact list or favourite-contact filter. If you only see a global switch, your TMWhatsApp version may not support individual monitoring. Check the release notes on WhatsAppMods.org before changing advanced settings or installing another APK.
Open the target person’s chat and inspect the contact menu as well. A few TMWhatsApp variants place Notify When Online, Online Alert, or Custom Notification inside the conversation screen. Enable the option for one contact first, then test it before adding more people.
Enable the Contact-Specific Notification
In Mods Settings, open the section connected with notifications or privacy. Turn on the online alert feature, then select Specific Contacts, Choose Contacts, or a similarly named filter. Select the person whose presence should trigger the sound and save the change.
If the contact does not appear, confirm that the number is saved in your Android address book with the correct Australian country code, +61. A local mobile number beginning with 04 should normally be stored internationally as +61 followed by the remaining digits, without the first zero.
The contact may also need to be visible to you under their WhatsApp privacy settings. If they hide their online status, a modified client cannot reliably create an alert from information it cannot receive. Avoid repeatedly adding and removing the same person, as that can create duplicate notification rules.
Assign a Distinct Alert Tone
Return to the notification area and open Online Notification Sound, Custom Sound, or Contact Alert Tone. Choose a short audio file stored on your phone, preferably in the Notifications or Alarms folder. A brief tone is easier to recognise than a full song when you are at work, commuting through Melbourne, or shopping in a noisy centre.
Some releases copy the sound from Android’s default notification channel. In that case, open Settings > Apps > TMWhatsApp > Notifications, select the relevant channel, and choose a tone there. Android may show separate channels for messages, calls, and modified-app alerts.
A custom notification feature can work differently across mod families, much like the interface variations described in this FMWhatsApp customisation guide. Use a tone that is clearly different from ordinary messages so the online event does not get confused with a new chat.
Sound choices that work well
- A short chime of one or two seconds
- A tone with a clear opening note
- A file saved locally rather than streamed
- A volume level suitable for public places
- A notification sound different from work or banking alerts
Give TMWhatsApp the Required Android Access
Android can silence or delay modified apps when battery optimisation is active. Open Settings > Apps > TMWhatsApp > Battery and select Unrestricted or Allow background activity, depending on your phone model. Also allow notifications, sound, vibration, and pop-ups when those permissions are available.
On Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, and similar phones, check the manufacturer’s autostart or background management menu. Google Pixel devices may delay background activity through adaptive battery controls. Notification behaviour can also change when Battery Saver, Do Not Disturb, or a custom bedtime mode is enabled.
For practical Android notification references, these notification notes may help explain why background processes behave differently between devices. Treat any third-party instructions carefully and avoid granting accessibility, contacts, or storage access unless the feature genuinely requires it.
Test and Repair Delayed Alerts
Ask the selected contact to open WhatsApp while you watch for the alert. Testing with the phone screen locked is useful because some settings work while the app is open but fail in the background. Check the notification shade, sound volume, and whether the event appears under the expected channel.
If no sound plays, disable silent mode and Do Not Disturb, raise the notification volume, and check that the chosen audio file still exists. Re-selecting the default tone can repair a broken custom sound. Clearing the app cache may help, but avoid clearing app data unless you have a verified chat backup.
When several contacts trigger alerts, remove unused entries and recreate the rule for the intended person. A badly configured global alert can produce frequent sounds throughout the day, which is inconvenient during meetings in Canberra or while driving between suburbs. Never interact with the phone while driving; pull over safely first.
Use the Feature With Privacy in Mind
Online-presence tracking reveals when someone uses the service and can create expectations of immediate replies. Explain the alert to people who may be affected, especially if you share a device or use the feature to monitor family members. Australian privacy obligations can apply to organisations handling personal information under the Privacy Act 1988, while personal use still calls for consent and sensible boundaries.
TMWhatsApp is unofficial software, so an online alert may depend on modified code, notification access, or server behaviour outside WhatsApp’s official support model. APK files from unknown sources can also contain unwanted code or request excessive permissions. Review the developer information, scan downloads, and keep a separate backup before installing a new version.
The setting is best treated as a convenience rather than a guaranteed real-time presence indicator. Connection delays, privacy controls, background restrictions, and app updates can all affect accuracy. Even gaming coverage such as Fallout 5 location analysis shows how changing environments alter user expectations; notification tools deserve the same attention to context.
Download a trusted TMWhatsApp release, back up your chats, enable the contact alert, and test the custom sound with Android’s battery and notification controls configured correctly. Keep the feature limited to appropriate contacts and review its permissions whenever the mod updates.
