Browse allGBWhatsApp DND mode for scheduled notification pauses
GBWhatsApp DND mode creates an automatic quiet period for selected notifications, so chats remain connected while banners, sounds and vibration stop during chosen hours. It schedules alerts rather than stopping messages or hiding read receipts.
For Australian users, the feature fits routines shaped by long commutes in Sydney and Melbourne, shift work, school drop-offs and household wind-downs. A 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. window may suit one person but fail for a FIFO worker, university student or parent sharing a phone.
Unlike Android’s device-wide Do Not Disturb, the mod’s timer can be limited to WhatsApp categories. Depending on the build, you may mute chats while keeping calls visible, or suppress everything without affecting notifications from other apps.
Because GBWhatsApp is an unofficial modified APK, its menus and reliability can change between releases. Treat DND as a convenience, back up the app before updates, and confirm the exact controls in the version you install.
What DND mode actually controls
Most builds use a repeating clock, while some allow a one-off period. The useful distinction is between pausing sounds and hiding alerts completely: a banner can reappear when notification sound is off, so both channels need testing.
Calls, group messages, status updates and reactions may have separate switches. DND normally leaves messages visible when the phone is unlocked; it does not make an account private or alter who can message you.
Feature sets differ across mod families. The Delta Yowa 19 update is useful background when comparing notification controls across unofficial variants, because a preference in one mod does not guarantee identical support in another.
Build a reliable quiet-hours schedule
Open GBWhatsApp and locate DND, Do Not Disturb or Scheduled silence under its notification settings. Labels vary by release, so search the settings screen rather than assuming one fixed menu path. Choose a clock-based schedule if your routine is stable.
- Set a start and end time rather than relying on a vague mute period
- Select weekdays that match your work or study pattern
- Choose whether calls, messages and status updates are muted separately
- Check the linked-device and notification-category toggles
- Keep a manual mute available for irregular shifts or public holidays
Save the timer, place the phone on charge overnight and test both a direct message and a call at each boundary. A linked tablet or desktop session may use its own alert settings, so repeat the test there rather than assuming the change has synced.
Match quiet hours to Australian daily routines
Quiet hours need to reflect the clock on the device, not a national standard. Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane share Eastern Time, while Perth uses Western Standard Time and Adelaide sits between them. Travelling across states can therefore shift a scheduled window.
Household schedules are just as varied. One adult may finish dinner at 8 p.m. while another begins a night shift, and a shared phone can make a universal quiet period inconvenient. Use per-account settings where the build permits them.
Public holidays, irregular rosters and sports finals can move bedtime earlier. A temporary manual mute is often clearer than repeatedly editing a recurring timer, especially when the same phone is used for family messages during the day.
Keep settings consistent across mod accounts
Users often move between GBWhatsApp, FMWhatsApp, YOWhatsApp and other mod families, but notification preferences are not portable. The delayed send guide explains a different timing feature: it controls when an outgoing message posts, not when incoming alerts are muted.
- Use one notification policy per account rather than mixing settings from different mods
- Give linked tablets and backup phones the same quiet window
- Recheck DND after an update, since some releases reset preferences
- Keep calls visible if family or emergency contacts need immediate access
- Record which variant and version produced each schedule
A second account on the same handset may have a separate timer, while linked devices can retain their own rules. Make the adjustment in each installation you use, then allow a few minutes for the saved preference to take effect.
Protect privacy and follow Australian rules
An unofficial APK deserves more caution than an official Play Store release. Download only from a source that identifies its version and build, avoid bundled “extra” apps, and review permissions for calls, contacts, files and accessibility access. No DND setting can make an untrusted package harmless.
Australian rules still apply. The Privacy Act 1988 governs personal information held by many covered organisations, and the Spam Act 2003 places consent and identification duties on commercial electronic messages. These laws do not certify a modified app, and its use may also breach WhatsApp’s terms.
A quiet-hours timer also does not override a lawful workplace instruction about availability. If the issue involves access to another person’s messages, use case-specific guidance and confirm it with a qualified Australian legal adviser; the case information is a starting point for checking facts, not universal advice.
Fix notifications that still appear
If an alert still appears, check the active schedule and phone time zone first. Then inspect WhatsApp’s per-chat mute, Android notification permissions and the channel controls, because a banner can bypass the app’s main sound switch. Restarting after an update also confirms whether preferences were retained.
Battery optimisation is another common culprit. Exempt GBWhatsApp from aggressive battery saving if alerts fail in the background, but avoid unnecessary auto-start permissions. On Telstra, Optus and Vodafone connections, a message arriving after a weak-signal outage can also sound outside the intended window.
If you publish version notes or setup instructions for a community blog, the blog publishing guide can help organise screenshots, update dates and warnings. Clear documentation reduces the chance that readers install an obsolete build or skip a permission review.
Make the schedule part of your day
Start with one predictable window, such as 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., and exempt family calls if the build allows it. Review the schedule after travel, a new shift roster or a mod update; the best quiet period is the one that remains predictable across a busy week.
Open the notification settings tonight, save your chosen hours and test the boundaries with a trusted contact. Keep a manual mute ready for exceptions, and revisit the timer whenever your work or family routine changes.
